THANKS AND WHY?

It’s Thanksgiving, 2016…and I am SO thankful for SO much. One of the activities I love is sharing my stories with you all. And judging by the comments, you seem to like the stories, taken from my actual life. And yes, we ALL have stories to tell. And I have shared 12 posts with you so far. I know, that isn’t very much, but remember, I need to dig back into my memories (over 72 years) and pull these memories, form them into stories that you will enjoy. True stories.

Why do we read other’s books and blogs about their life experiences? At our most basic level, the two main drivers of human behavior are avoiding pain and experiencing pleasure. We love to “get away” from it all and live vicariously through others. I love to read, whether it is sci-fi (REALLY getting away into another universe) and fiction (living through others vicariously).

It seems the human in us all loves stories. We love to hear and read other’s stories. Why? Is it because the grass is always greener on the other side, in someone else’s lawn? Or is it we think that others have more interesting lives than we have?

Maybe it’s all part of our learning experience, learning from others, learning as we grow and experience life. Whatever it is, I love telling my stories. And what I REALLY love is that you enjoy reading them. I do try to keep it interesting for you, and yet therapeutic for me, reliving all of this, as well as ‘putting it all down’ for posterity. Not that I am that important, but I am to some people…my family and friends.

And perhaps I can teach others through my life stories. So, I’ll keep doing this, and hope you keep reading them. Thanks for that.
